Vladmir Leskaj, a 59-year-old repeat drug offender from Tipton, has been sentenced to three years in prison after Staffordshire Police discovered cocaine hidden in his car while he was parked at a McDonald's restaurant in Tamworth.
Officers spotted Leskaj in his Fiat 500 in the car park of the fast food outlet on Watling Street, Wilnecote, in April. A search of the vehicle uncovered cocaine stashed in the handbrake area, along with mobile phones and cash.
Previous suspended sentence activated
Leskaj was already subject to a suspended sentence for the production of cannabis at the time of his arrest. In court, he admitted a charge of possession of cocaine with intent to supply, commonly known as dealing.
At Stafford Crown Court on Tuesday, September 15, the judge activated his previous one-year-and-three-month suspended sentence and ordered him to serve an additional consecutive term of one year and nine months. In total, Leskaj will spend three years in prison. His drugs, cash and phone were also forfeited.
Police response to the case
Detective Superintendent Victoria Downing, from Staffordshire Police's Major and Organised Crime Unit, commented on the case. She said: “Leskaj was brazen in his drug supply activities, with officers finding cocaine in his car while he was parked at a fast food outlet in the middle of the day.”
She added: “I am pleased he has had his previously suspended sentence for similar offences activated by the court and that he will serve a significant amount of time behind bars.”
