Court Proceedings and Charges

Jamie Fountain, 24, of Fir Tree Close, Flitwick, and Ellie Ireland, 23, of Wingate Drive, Ampthill, Bedfordshire, appeared at Luton Magistrates' Court on Monday, April 6. They were charged in connection with the incident.

Fountain faces multiple charges, including:

  • Causing death by careless driving
  • Causing death by careless driving while over the legal limit for alcohol and drugs
  • Two counts of causing serious injury by careless driving
  • Failing to stop at the scene of an accident
  • Failing to report an accident
  • Conspiracy to pervert the course of justice

Ireland has been charged with conspiracy to pervert the course of justice. During the hearing, neither defendant entered a plea. Both individuals were remanded in custody and are scheduled to appear next at Luton Crown Court on May 5.
