Man Appears in Court Following Violent Rampage Across Two Cities

A man has been brought before the courts after a series of violent incidents that spanned two major Midlands cities, leaving one victim hospitalised and another assaulted in their own home.

Early Morning Violence in Stoke-on-Trent

Police were first alerted to reports of serious violence in the early hours of 8th May 2025. At approximately 4:35am, officers responded to an incident on Church Street in Stoke-on-Trent where a man had been stabbed and his van stolen during what appears to have been a violent robbery.

Second Attack Reported in Wolverhampton

Just thirty-five minutes later, at around 5:10am, West Midlands Police received another emergency call reporting a break-in at a residential property in Wolverhampton. During this incident, a second man was attacked within his own home, though fortunately he did not require hospital treatment following the assault.

Charges Brought Against 30-Year-Old Defendant

Zaryab Khan, aged 30, has been charged with multiple serious offences in connection with both incidents. The charges include attempted murder, Section 18 attempted wounding with intent, aggravated burglary, robbery, and possession of a knife blade or sharp pointed article in a public place.

The defendant made his initial appearance at North Staffordshire Justice Centre in Newcastle-under-Lyme on Tuesday, 27th January. This marked the beginning of formal legal proceedings against him for the alleged crimes committed across both locations.

Condition of Victims

The victim of the Stoke-on-Trent stabbing was taken to hospital for emergency treatment and continues to receive medical care for his injuries. The second victim, who was attacked during the Wolverhampton break-in, was fortunate to escape without injuries serious enough to require hospital admission.

Next Steps in Legal Process

Khan is scheduled to make his next court appearance at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court on 27th February, where the case will progress through the judicial system. The charges represent some of the most serious offences that can be brought before the courts, reflecting the gravity of the alleged actions.

The incidents have raised concerns about violent crime across the region, with both attacks occurring within a short timeframe during the early morning hours. Police investigations continue as the legal process moves forward, with authorities working to establish the full circumstances surrounding both violent episodes.
