A male cyclist has sustained serious injuries following a collision with a car on one of Shropshire's major routes. The incident occurred on the A49 near Wellington and has prompted a police investigation into the circumstances.

Emergency Response and Hospital Treatment

Emergency services raced to the scene at approximately 2:10pm on Monday, November 10, after reports of a collision between a bicycle and a Volkswagen Golf. Medical teams provided immediate treatment at the location before transporting the injured cyclist to Queen Elizabeth Hospital for further care.

The cyclist, identified as a man in his 30s, remains in hospital with what police have described as serious injuries. The driver of the VW Golf was reportedly present at the scene and is assisting officers with their enquiries.

Police Appeal for Vital Dashcam Evidence

West Mercia Police have launched a public appeal for information as they work to establish the exact sequence of events leading to the collision. Officers are particularly interested in obtaining dashcam footage from vehicles travelling along the A49 around the time of the incident.

A police spokesperson stated: "We are appealing for witnesses following a collision on the A49 on Monday. We would like to hear from anyone who saw, or who has dashcam footage, of the collision itself or the vehicles in the minutes before."
