Nathan Smith, a 45-year-old father and self-taught musician, has tragically died after being struck by a tractor in Staffordshire. The incident occurred on Shelton New Road in Cliffe Vale, Stoke-on-Trent, at approximately 8.20am on Wednesday, August 5. Despite the best efforts of emergency services, Mr Smith succumbed to his injuries shortly after the collision.
Family tribute to a beloved father
In a heartfelt statement, Mr Smith's family paid tribute to him, describing him as 'a wonderful son, grandson and an incredible father.' They highlighted his musical talents, noting that he was a self-taught electric bass player who performed with various Stoke bands and ran the UTC recording studio in Longton alongside his friend and fellow Big Cash Prizes band member, Tom Bath.
His family added: "Nathan was supremely talented and in recent years enjoyed success with a new Stoke band MFK, culminating in supporting the Wombats at Trentham Gardens. Nathan was so much more though. A wonderful son, grandson and an incredible father. He charmed everyone he met and was universally adored. He will be missed enormously by so many people."
Police investigation underway
Staffordshire Police have confirmed that Mr Smith's next of kin are being supported by specialist officers during this difficult time. The force has launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the collision and is appealing for any witnesses or anyone with relevant CCTV, dashcam, or doorbell footage to come forward.
