A Wolverhampton man has been jailed after police discovered a stash of drugs hidden inside a food delivery bag at his home. Thas Kirubaharan, 23, of Culwell Street, appeared at Wolverhampton Crown Court on August 5 and pleaded guilty to possession with intent to supply Class A and Class C drugs and possession of Class B drugs. He was sentenced to three years in prison.
Police Follow-Up Leads to Discovery
The arrest came after officers attended Kirubaharan's address on May 3, following up on a previous incident from the day before. During their visit, a small green pill in a sealed bag fell from his pocket. Officers then witnessed him attempting to factory reset his phone, which they seized.
A subsequent search uncovered a safe containing multiple drugs, including magic mushroom bars, pills, Class B edibles, vapes, and a bag with more green pills. Phones and a set of scales were also found inside the safe.
Police Statement on Drug Dealing
PC Adam Crisp, of West Midlands Police, said: “Stamping out drug dealing and disrupting the supply throughout our communities is always a priority for us. The supply of drugs can have a devastating impact on our neighbourhoods and communities and as Kirubaharan has found out - anyone found to be involved will be dealt with and put before the courts.”
A force spokesperson added: "A man has been jailed after officers uncovered a large haul of Class A and B drugs inside a safe hidden in a food delivery bag. Following up on a previous incident on 2 May at Thas Kirubaharan’s address in Culwell Street, Wolverhampton, officers attended the following day and upon speaking with him noticed a small green pill in a sealed bag fall from his pocket."
The spokesperson continued: "With their suspicions piqued, a search then found suspected Class A and B drugs and a safe. With Kirubaharan, aged 23, under arrest he was then seen trying to factory reset his phone before the officers stepped in and seized it. Taking a closer look inside the safe, multiple phones were discovered alongside magic mushroom bars, pills, Class B edibles, vapes and a bag containing more green pills. Scales and bags were also seized."
Public Urged to Report Drug Dealing
West Midlands Police are encouraging anyone with information about drug dealing to report it by calling 101 or making an anonymous report to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111. The force emphasised that tackling drug supply remains a priority to protect communities from its harmful effects.
