Two men are in police custody tonight after officers acting on community intelligence stopped a vehicle in Handsworth, Birmingham, and uncovered a haul of suspected Class A drugs, cash, and a machete.
Today (August 10) shortly before midday, officers stopped a car on Park Road, Handsworth. Searches of the vehicle led to the recovery of several wraps of suspected Class A drugs, alongside a quantity of cash and a mobile phone.
Further search yields machete
A subsequent search of a linked address resulted in the seizure of a machete, according to West Midlands Police.
Two men, aged 18 and 51, were arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply drugs. Both remain in police custody this evening (August 10).
Community intelligence leads to arrest
The operation was prompted by intelligence from the local community, highlighting the force's reliance on public information to tackle drug-related crime.
West Midlands Police have not released further details about the suspects or the exact quantity of drugs seized.
