A former Jaguar Land Rover engineer who previously admitted to being a 'horrible person' has become the latest addition to the West Midlands Police most wanted list. Melissa Elliker, 38, from Solihull, is wanted on recall to prison after disappearing from police radar.
Background of the case
Elliker was sentenced to four years in prison in March 2025 for attempted robbery, assault, ten counts of theft from a shop, and breaching a suspended sentence. Her mugshot was shared on the force's wanted gallery on Wednesday, June 17, with an appeal for information.
The police statement reads: 'WANTED: Mellissa Elliker. Do you know the whereabouts of Mellissa Elliker? The 38-year-old from Solihull is wanted on recall to prison and we want to find her. If you see her, ring 999 quoting 20/254213/26.'
Details of the crime
Elliker targeted an elderly woman at Asda in Shirley, Solihull, on New Year's Day 2025. She knocked the victim to the floor and clawed at the face of the victim's husband who attempted to intervene. After her sentence, PC Emily Fowler from Solihull LPA's Investigations team stated: 'This will have been an extremely traumatic attack for the man and woman Elliker targeted. Everyone in Solihull has the right to go out and feel safe in the streets, and we will continue to seek justice for anyone who has been a victim of crime in the borough.'
Prior to the New Year's Day attack, Elliker had also been on a shoplifting spree over several months.
