The family of a 43-year-old father who died in a motorbike crash in Cannock have paid tribute to him, describing him as a 'special, kind, loving' man whose presence was 'greater than life itself'.
Stephen Mason suffered fatal injuries in the collision on the Walsall Road junction of Green Lane in Cannock on Wednesday, August 12. He was treated by medics at the scene at around 8.30pm before he was sadly pronounced dead.
A Life Lived Loudly
In a statement released through Staffordshire Police, his family said: "Our special, kind, loving Steve was adored and loved by his family so much. He was a much-loved father, son, grandson, nephew, brother and uncle. His presence was greater than life itself. He lived life with no presumptions; he sang and danced and was unapologetically loud."
The family added: "To dance in the dark of an eclipse is a fitting end for a life as bright as the sun. Our hearts are broken but we will be healed by the brightness of his smile and sound of his laugh and the remembrance of his love for us and our love for him."
Emergency Services Praised
They also expressed gratitude to those who tried to save him: "As his family we would like to thank everyone involved, especially the police, ambulance crews, the paramedic officer, the MERIT trauma doctor, critical care paramedic and the crew of the Midlands Air Ambulance who worked so hard to save our beloved Steve."
The driver of the car involved remained at the scene and is assisting Staffordshire Police with their investigation. A force spokesperson said: "Specialist officers continue to support Stephen’s family at this difficult time. The driver of the car remained at the scene and officers are continuing to appeal for information."

Investigators are particularly keen to speak to the driver of a black estate car who may have witnessed the collision.
