A dozen firefighters were dispatched to tackle a blaze on a main Black Country street, sending huge plumes of black smoke into the air.

Crews were called to High Street in Brierley Hill just after 3:50pm after astroturf caught alight. The fire produced thick black smoke, causing concern among locals.
West Midlands Fire Service reported that the fire was quickly extinguished, with firefighters remaining at the scene to dampen down. No injuries occurred, and no road closures were necessary.
Emergency Response
The service stated: "We received the first call at 3:53pm. Crews from Brierley Hill, Dudley, and Stourbridge attended. It was a fire involving astroturf. Crews have remained in attendance and are dampening down."
Firefighters used hose reel jets to put out the flames and ensure the area was safe.
Community Impact
The incident caused temporary alarm due to the visible smoke, but normal activities resumed quickly. Authorities confirmed there was no risk to nearby properties.
