Five men have been charged in connection with the 'Dappa' drugs line following a police operation in the West Midlands. The men, aged between 18 and 37, were due to appear before magistrates at Wolverhampton Magistrates Court on August 12.
West Midlands Police (WMP) executed warrants at five addresses across Dudley and Sandwell on August 11. During the operation, officers recovered more than £35,000 in cash, mobile phones believed to be linked to drug dealing, knives, imitation firearms, and ammunition.
Charges and Appearances
All five men have been charged with being concerned in the supply of crack cocaine and heroin. Additional charges were brought against some individuals. Mohammed Yasser Khan, 23, faces further charges of possession of Class A drugs with intent to supply and possession of criminal property. Alex Rennie, 38, is also charged with possession of ammunition without a certificate and possession of component parts of ammunition with intent to manufacture.
The other charged men are Nafees Rashid, 25; Ayaiz Shafiq, 18; and Alex Nock, 37. All five were remanded in custody to appear before Wolverhampton Magistrates Court today.
Police Response and Operation Target
A spokesperson for WMP said: "Our County Lines Taskforce is committed to disrupting the supply of drugs in the West Midlands and is relentlessly targeting those suspected of involvement in it." They added that the operation is part of Operation Target, the force's ongoing fight against serious and organised crime in the region.
The arrests and charges mark a significant step in addressing drug-related crime in the area. The recovered cash and weapons have been seized as evidence, and the investigation continues as part of broader efforts to dismantle drug supply networks.
