West Midlands Police have launched an investigation after a Ford car, stolen during a robbery in Birmingham, was discovered in the Heath Town area of Wolverhampton. The vehicle was found by Police Community Support Officers (PCSOs) while they were on routine patrol in the Black Country.
Discovery during patrol
The car, which featured tinted windows and a black paint job, was spotted parked in a car park in Heath Town. A photograph released by West Midlands Police (WMP) shows the vehicle alongside a police car in the foreground.
Upon further inspection, officers determined that the car had been stolen during a robbery that is understood to have taken place in the nearby Birmingham area. The exact location and timing of the robbery have not been disclosed.
Forensic examination under way
As a result of the discovery, forensic teams have been drafted in to examine the vehicle thoroughly. The examination is part of the ongoing investigation into the robbery, and there are plans to return the car to its rightful owner once the forensic work is complete.
A spokesperson for West Midlands Police said: "Whilst on patrols yesterday in the Heath Town area, our PCSOs came across this car. Checks revealed that it recently been stolen in a robbery from the Birmingham area."
Recovery and next steps
The spokesperson added: "The car was safely recovered for forensic examination and soon to be returned to its owner."
No arrests have been reported in connection with the incident. The investigation remains ongoing, and police have not yet released further details about the robbery or the vehicle's recovery.
