A grandfather is appealing for help after thugs smashed the windows of his home and all five cars parked in his driveway during a terrifying early morning attack in Bordesley Green.
Javed Iqbal and his family were sleeping at their home on Botha Road in the early hours of Sunday, May 24, when they were suddenly awoken by a series of loud bangs. His wife, daughter, and two grandchildren aged nine and four, who were enjoying a weekend sleepover, began to panic and scream in fear.
Panicked, Mr. Iqbal ran downstairs and was confronted by the sight of the thugs breaking the windows of his house. By the time he opened his front door, the gang had fled into the night. All of the windows of all five cars parked in his driveway had been smashed through, leaving glass scattered across the ground.
Police Investigation Underway
West Midlands Police attended the scene and are investigating the incident. Mr. Iqbal said his grandchildren have been left scared and will remember the shocking incident for the rest of their lives. He has no idea why they were targeted and is asking anyone with CCTV or information to come forward.
Mr. Iqbal stated: "I honestly don't know why we were targeted and why this has happened. I haven't got a clue. No one should go through this ordeal in their own home. We would like to appeal to the public to come forward if they have CCTV."
A West Midlands Police spokesperson said: "We're investigating after cars were deliberately damaged in Botha Road, Birmingham, at around 2am on 24 May. Anyone with information can contact us via Live Chat on our website, or by calling 101, and quote 20/259985/26."
