Appeal for Witnesses After Fatal Hit-and-Run
Warwickshire Police are urgently appealing for information as they continue to hunt for a hit-and-run driver who killed a cyclist on a major Midlands dual carriageway. The victim has been named as Israr Hussain, a 55-year-old man from Coventry.
Details of the Tragic Incident
The collision occurred on the southbound carriageway of the A46 between Stoneleigh and Kenilworth. Mr Hussain was discovered with serious injuries on the road at approximately 9.20pm on Tuesday, November 11, 2025. Despite immediate CPR efforts from police officers and paramedics who rushed to the scene, he was pronounced dead a short time later.
The West Midlands Ambulance Service confirmed they received a 999 call from Warwickshire Police at 9.22pm. Their response included two ambulances, a paramedic officer, and a critical care car from the Air Ambulance Service.
Major Police Investigation Underway
Inspector Michael Huntley from the force's Serious Collision Investigation Unit revealed that investigators have identified nearly 500 vehicles that passed through the area in the timeframe leading up to the discovery of Mr Hussain. The registered keepers of all these vehicles have now been contacted by police.
Officers are specifically asking drivers the following questions:
- Did you witness or were you involved in a collision involving a pedal cyclist or object in the carriageway?
- Did you witness the cyclist or a pedestrian along the A46 between the A45 and the Kenilworth/Leamington junction?
- Do you have any dash-camera footage covering your journey along the A46 between 9pm and 9.30pm that night?
The southbound carriageway was shut for several hours following the incident, causing significant disruption. Police are urging anyone with information, no matter how small, to contact them by emailing sciu@warwickshire.police.uk and quoting incident number 434 of 11 November.
