IKEA Recalls Garlic Press and Spatula Over Safety Risks

IKEA has urgently recalled two everyday kitchen items, warning customers to immediately stop using them due to safety risks. The Swedish furniture giant, which has a store near Birmingham in Wednesbury, issued the recall for the IKEA 365+ VÄRDEFULL garlic press and the IKEA 365+ HJÄLTE stirring spatula.

Garlic Press Recall

The IKEA 365+ VÄRDEFULL garlic press, black (article number 201.521.58) with date stamps from 2411 to 2522 (YYWW), is being recalled due to a production error. According to IKEA, an investigation identified a risk that small metal pieces could detach during use and be ingested with food. Customers are asked to stop using the product immediately and contact IKEA for a full refund. Proof of purchase is not required. If customers cannot identify the date stamp, they can still return any IKEA 365+ VÄRDEFULL garlic press, black, for a full refund. The refund can be obtained by returning the product to any IKEA store or by contacting IKEA on 01733 520 006.

Stirring Spatula Recall

The IKEA 365+ HJÄLTE stirring spatula (article number 401.494.62) with date stamp 2445 (YYWW), corresponding to products purchased after November 2024, is being recalled due to health risks. IKEA stated that a local test in Belgium showed non-compliant migration of primary aromatic amines (PAA) above the permissible limit. Customers are asked to immediately stop using the spatula and return it to any IKEA store for a full refund. Proof of purchase is not required. Alternatively, customers can contact IKEA on 01733 520 006 or visit IKEA.co.uk for more information.
