A knifeman remained at large today, 24 hours after a stabbing near a Birmingham leisure centre. The victim, a man in his 20s, sustained a stab wound to his hand during the attack on Station Road, Stechford, which occurred yesterday, Thursday, June 4.
Local residents informed BirminghamLive that Stechford Leisure Centre, formerly known as the swimming baths, was cordoned off from the afternoon following the incident. Police have not yet made any arrests in connection with the assault.
Police Investigation Underway
Officers are currently speaking to witnesses and reviewing CCTV footage from the surrounding area. In a new statement released today, West Midlands Police said: "Enquiries are continuing with officers speaking to witnesses and reviewing CCTV from the local area. We're still urging anyone who was there or saw what happened to please contact us."
A previous statement from the force read: "We're investigating after a man was stabbed in the hand in Stechford. We were called to Station Road at around 1.15pm, and the victim, in his 20s, suffered a stab wound to his hand. The investigation is at an early stage, and we'd urge anyone with information to get in touch."
