West Midlands Police have arrested a 31-year-old man on suspicion of attempted murder following a series of violent attacks in Lozells this morning (August 10). The force is now investigating whether the suspect is responsible for three separate incidents, including two stabbings, all occurring within a few hours.
Timeline of Attacks
The first incident took place on Witton Road at approximately 7am, where a man was attacked. He was taken to hospital with injuries but has since been discharged. Shortly before 9am, police were called to Lozells Road after a man in his 30s was stabbed. Paramedics treated him at the scene before he was rushed to hospital by ambulance with life-threatening injuries.
Just after 9am, a second stabbing occurred on Finch Road, Lozells, where a 30-year-old man sustained life-threatening injuries and was taken to hospital. Police believe the suspect is linked to all three incidents, which have prompted a major investigation.
Arrest and Investigation
Officers quickly arrested a 31-year-old man nearby on suspicion of attempted murder. He remains in custody as enquiries continue. A West Midlands Police spokesperson said: "We were called to Lozells Road, shortly before 9am this morning, after a man in his 30's was stabbed. Paramedics treated the man at the scene before he was taken to hospital by ambulance with injuries described as life-threatening."
The spokesperson added: "Officers quickly arrested a 31-year-old man nearby on suspicion of attempted murder. He was taken to custody where he remains as we continue with our enquiries. As a result of the investigation, we are now investigating a second stabbing on Finch Road, Lozells. This occurred just after 9am, where a 30-year-old man was taken to hospital after receiving life-threatening injuries, as well as an incident where a man was attacked on Witton Road earlier at around 7am. He went to hospital with injuries but has since been discharged. We believe the suspect is linked to the two new incidents which have come to light."
IOPC Referral
In a separate development, West Midlands Police will be making a referral to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) after previous contact with the suspect earlier in the day. This is standard procedure when there has been prior police interaction before a serious incident.

Detective Chief Superintendent Ed Foster, who leads the Major Crime Unit, said: "We are in the early stages of our investigation. We would appeal for witnesses or anyone with any information including mobile phone or dash cam footage to please get in touch with us."
