Police Uncover Sophisticated Cannabis Operation
Officers from West Midlands Police have uncovered a significant cannabis cultivation site during a raid on a property in Solihull. The discovery was made on Tuesday, November 18, at an address on Rowood Drive, located near the town's prominent JLR plant.
Inside the Illegal Grow
Upon entering the property, the police team discovered a large-scale operation. They found more than 50 cannabis plants at various stages of growth, alongside an array of professional equipment used for cultivation.
The criminals had gone to significant lengths to conceal their activities and reduce costs. A key finding was that the electricity meter had been dangerously bypassed, stealing power to run the high-energy equipment needed for the illegal grow. Images from the scene revealed the use of specialised Omega Infinity Pro 3.0 LED lights to nurture the crop.
Ongoing Investigation and Community Appeal
All plants and growing paraphernalia were subsequently bagged up and removed from the scene by officers for evidence. An active investigation is now underway to identify and locate those responsible for establishing and running the cannabis farm. No arrests have been made at this time.
A spokesperson for West Midlands Police confirmed the details and issued a call to the public. They stated: "Officers are investigating to establish who has been using the property to grow the cannabis. If you have any information, please call 101 quoting 20/447178/25." Information can also be given completely anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
The force also emphasised that tackling such operations is a regular part of their work, confirming that teams across the West Midlands routinely execute warrants at properties suspected of being used for cannabis production.
