£30k Cannabis Farm Uncovered in Wolverhampton Police Raid
Man arrested after £30k cannabis farm found in Wolverhampton

Officers from West Midlands Police have uncovered a significant cannabis cultivation operation in Wolverhampton, with an estimated street value of £30,000.

Weekend Raid Leads to Discovery

The discovery was made over the weekend when police executed a warrant at a property on Goldthorn Road in Wolverhampton. The raid, conducted under the Misuse of Drugs Act, led to the finding of thirty illicit cannabis plants being grown inside the address.

Photographs released by the Ettingshall, Blakenhall and Spring Vale Police team on X showed a sophisticated set-up, with the plants growing in pots under powerful artificial lights. Another image revealed numerous glass jars filled with harvested cannabis buds, indicating a mature operation.

Arrest and Charges

As a direct result of the raid, a man in his 20s was arrested at the scene. He was taken into custody on suspicion of multiple offences, including:

  • Cultivating cannabis
  • Abstracting electricity
  • Possession of an offensive weapon

However, a force spokesperson provided an update to BirminghamLive, confirming that the suspect has since been released under investigation. Enquiries into the full extent of the operation are ongoing.

Ongoing Investigation

The police have emphasised that their investigation is continuing. The discovery of this cannabis farm in a residential area highlights the ongoing efforts by West Midlands Police to tackle drug-related crime in the community.

The practice of abstracting electricity is commonly associated with such illicit grows, posing a significant fire risk to neighbouring properties.
