Man arrested in Wolverhampton cannabis farm raid

Police have dismantled a significant cannabis cultivation operation in Wolverhampton, leading to one arrest and the seizure of plants with an estimated street value of £30,000.

The Goldthorn Hill Raid

Officers from West Midlands Police executed a section 23 misuse of drugs warrant at a property on Goldthorn Road, Wolverhampton. The raid, which took place on the morning of November 16, 2025, uncovered a sophisticated set-up for growing cannabis.

Inside the address, police discovered and recovered a total of 30 cannabis plants. The plants were being cultivated using a hydroponic system, a method often used for intensive indoor farming. Photographic evidence from the scene showed the plants growing in pots under specialised lighting, alongside several clear jars filled with harvested cannabis.

Arrest and Additional Charges

A man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of multiple offences. The primary charge is for the cultivation of cannabis.

However, he was also arrested on suspicion of abstracting electricity, a common offence linked to illegal cannabis farms which bypass mains power to avoid detection and high energy costs. Furthermore, he faces an additional charge relating to the possession of certain dog breeds.

Scale and Value of the Operation

Based on the average street value, police estimated that the 30 plants seized had a potential value of £30,000. This valuation highlights the commercial scale of the operation discovered in the residential area.

The Ettingshall, Blakenhall & Spring Vale Police team confirmed the details of the operation on X, formerly known as Twitter, stating that one male was now in custody for the listed offences.

This raid forms part of West Midlands Police's ongoing efforts to combat drug-related crime and its associated activities within local communities.
