Man Charged with Attempted Murder Following Smethwick Shooting
A 23-year-old man has been formally charged with attempted murder in connection with a shooting incident that occurred in Smethwick, West Midlands. Akobi Folarin faces this serious charge after another man was allegedly shot in the leg during the early hours of March 11.

West Midlands Police were called to Bearwood Road at approximately 1:30 a.m. on March 11 following reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers discovered a 19-year-old man with a gunshot wound to his leg. The victim was promptly transported to a local hospital for medical treatment.
In addition to the attempted murder charge, Folarin is also accused of possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life. He appeared before magistrates in Wolverhampton on Saturday, April 18, and has been remanded to appear at the city’s crown court on May 18.

The investigation has led to multiple arrests. The alleged shooting victim, a 19-year-old man, was also arrested on suspicion of violent disorder. He has since been released on police bail after being discharged from the hospital.
