Man Appears in Court Over Alleged Park Sex Offences
A 22-year-old man from Birmingham has been charged with serious sexual offences, including performing a sex act in the presence of a young child and indecent exposure, following an incident near a popular city park.
Police Response and Arrest
West Midlands Police were called to Slingfield Road in Northfield at approximately 8am on Wednesday, November 5, following reports of a man allegedly indecently exposing himself. The location is close to the perimeter of West Heath Park. Officers attended the scene and subsequently arrested a suspect in connection with the incident.
The arrested individual was identified as Alieu Jabang, aged 22, of Rednal Mill Drive in Longbridge. Following questioning, he was formally charged with two counts: engaging in a sexual activity in the presence of a child under the age of 13, and indecent exposure.
Court Proceedings Begin
Jabang was remanded in custody and was scheduled for his first court appearance at Birmingham Magistrates' Court on Friday, November 7. A spokeswoman for West Midlands Police confirmed the charges, stating the investigation related to “an incident close to West Heath Recreation Ground [West Heath Park] in Birmingham.”
The case highlights ongoing efforts by local authorities to address public safety and sexual offences within the community. The police have processed the matter through the judicial system, with the initial hearing now complete.
