Detectives in Liverpool have launched a major investigation after a man in his 30s was left fighting for his life following a violent assault outside a takeaway in the Dingle area. Merseyside Police confirmed that the victim was attacked by a group of six males on Park Road on Saturday evening, with two teenagers now arrested in connection with the incident.
Incident details and emergency response
Police were called to Park Road in Dingle just before 10pm on Saturday, August 8, following reports that a group had assaulted a man outside a takeaway. The victim, who is in his 30s, was rushed to hospital, where he remains in a critical condition, according to Merseyside Police.
The severity of the attack has prompted a full-scale investigation, with officers remaining at the scene throughout the day to conduct CCTV and forensic examinations. An electric bike believed to have been used in the assault has also been seized by police as evidence.
Arrests and charges
Following the attack, police arrested a 16-year-old boy from Wavertree on suspicion of Section 18 grievous bodily harm with intent. A 14-year-old boy from Dingle was also arrested on suspicion of Section 18 wounding with intent. Both teenagers remain in custody as enquiries continue.
Detective Inspector Gemma Ellerton of Merseyside Police said: "Although we have arrested two males in connection with the incident, we continue to make enquiries into what took place to ensure those involved are held to account."

DI Ellerton highlighted the concern such an incident causes, particularly given the ages of those involved and the busy nature of the area. She urged anyone who witnessed the assault or has information to come forward.
"We understand the concern that such an incident will cause, especially given the ages of those involved and the busy area in which this occurred," she said. "With this I urge people in the area who saw the incident, or suspect a young person you know of having been involved, to please come forward and check any devices which may hold images or footage leading up to the assault. Any information no matter how small, may help the investigation."
