A man in his 60s has died after being hit by a car in the Bearwood area of Birmingham, prompting a police appeal for witnesses and dashcam footage.
Appeal for witnesses after fatal incident
The collision occurred near the junction of City Road and Sandon Road shortly after 1pm on Tuesday, 29 October. Emergency services attended, and the man was taken to hospital with serious injuries, where he later passed away.
The driver of the vehicle involved stopped at the scene. The Serious Collision Investigation Unit (SCIU) of West Midlands Police is now leading the enquiry into the circumstances of the crash.
Police urge drivers with dashcams to come forward
Detective Sergeant Paul Hughes stated: "Our thoughts are with the family of the man who died at what is a desperately sad time." He emphasised the importance of information from the public to piece together the events.
"We know there will have been other drivers in the area, possibly with dashcam footage, and we would like to see that and speak with those drivers," DS Hughes added. "The driver of the car involved remained at the scene, so we now want to speak to anyone else who might have seen what happened."
Officers are particularly keen to hear from any motorists who were travelling on City Road around the time of the incident, regardless of whether they believe they saw the collision itself.
