Murder investigation launched

"We were called to the car park of the Beggars Bush pub on the Chester Road in Sutton Coldfield just before 2am. A man in his 20s had been stabbed but despite the best efforts of the emergency services, he died at the scene."

"We are reviewing CCTV and speaking to witnesses as we work to establish what happened. It’s believed a large number of people had been at the venue for an event, and we’d appeal for anyone who was there or who has information about what had happened to come forward."

Witness appeal and tribute at the scene

Detective Chief Inspector Stacey Follow added: "Our investigation is at an early stage, and our thoughts are with the man’s family and friends today. We will continue to support them as our investigation progresses, and I’d urge anyone who saw what happened, or who has dash cam or CCTV to get in touch with us as soon as possible."

A large number of people had reportedly gathered at the site for a birthday party on Saturday night, October 10. Flowers and balloons have been left at the site on Monday, October 12. One red heart balloon says 'daddy' while another has 'Ayden' written on it. Police are asking anyone with information, mobile phone footage, dashcam video, CCTV, or other images to send them directly to investigators.
