Tributes left outside Beggars Bush pub after stabbing

Heartbreaking tributes have been left outside a Birmingham pub after a man was stabbed to death over the weekend. Flowers and balloons have been placed at the site outside the Beggars Bush pub in Sutton Coldfield, with one red heart balloon reading 'daddy' and another naming the victim locally as 'Ayden'.

It is understood that a large number of people had gathered for a birthday party at the pub on Saturday night, October 10. The celebrations turned violent when a man, who was in his 20s, was stabbed at around 2am on Sunday, October 11. Police were called to the scene where the victim was pronounced dead.

Murder investigation launched

West Midlands Police have launched a murder investigation and are appealing for information. A spokesperson for the force said: "We've launched a murder investigation after a man was stabbed to death in Birmingham this morning. We were called to the car park of the Beggars Bush pub on the Chester Road in Sutton Coldfield just before 2am. A man in his 20s had been stabbed but despite the best efforts of the emergency services, he died at the scene."

The victim's identity has not yet been formally shared by police. The spokesperson added: "We are reviewing CCTV and speaking to witnesses as we work to establish what happened. It's believed a large number of people had been at the venue for an event, and we'd appeal for anyone who was there or who has information about what had happened to come forward."

Police appeal for witnesses

Det Ch Insp Stacey Follows, from the Major Crime Unit, said: "Our investigation is at an early stage, and our thoughts are with the man's family and friends today. We will continue to support them as our investigation progresses, and I'd urge anyone who saw what happened, or who has dash cam or CCTV to get in touch with us as soon as possible."

Police have asked anyone with information to call 101 or use Live Chat on the force's website, quoting log 345. They are also accepting mobile phone footage, dashcam video, CCTV and other images directly from the public.
