Merry Hill Scam: Fake Cash Refund Probe, Police Seek Women

Police are investigating a fake cash refund scam that targeted one of the Midlands' largest shopping centres. West Midlands Police reported that counterfeit banknotes were used to purchase a kitchen item at a store in Solihull. The item was later taken to a different branch of the same chain at Merry Hill shopping centre in the Black Country for a refund.

The transaction occurred at the Merry Hill shopping centre between 1:40 PM and 2:00 PM on April 22. Police have released a CCTV image of two women who may have information about the incident.

In a statement, the force said: "An investigation is underway after we received a report that fake bank notes had been used at a store in Solihull to buy a kitchen item before it was returned to a branch at Merry Hill. Following CCTV enquiries, we've been able to identify two women who we want to speak to in connection with the incident."
