West Midlands Police has issued an update in the search for a missing Wolverhampton mother and her three children, stating they believe the group may have travelled 117 miles from where they were last seen.
The force said 31-year-old Alimat and her children may have made their way to London. They were last seen on Saturday in the Digbeth area of Birmingham, with CCTV footage showing them walking with at least two suitcases. Alimat was also pushing a pram, which, in addition to carrying her youngest child, appeared to be filled with clothes and coats.
Police appeal for information
West Midlands Police initially posted on social media: "Have you seen Alimat? The 31-year-old from Wolverhampton is missing along with her three children. They have been missing since 8 August and were last seen in the area of Digbeth in Birmingham. If you see Alimat please call 999 quoting RID 1160387."
In an update on Tuesday, August 11, the force said they think the group could have travelled from Birmingham New Street station to London Euston, a distance of approximately 117 miles.
Potential travel to London
A spokesperson said: "We are continuing to ask for your help to locate Alimat who is missing from #Wolverhampton. The 31-year-old, and her three children, were last seen in the city on Saturday before being spotted in #Birmingham city centre the following day. It is understood she may have travelled from New Street station to London Euston. If you can help, please call 999 quoting PID 461858."
The update follows the initial appeal, which was shared widely on social media. Police have not disclosed further details about the circumstances of the disappearance, but they are urging anyone with information to come forward.
The family's whereabouts remain unknown, and the police continue to ask the public for any sightings or information that could help locate them. The force has emphasised the importance of calling 999 if Alimat or her children are seen, quoting the relevant reference number.
