A 36-year-old mother has appeared in court charged with the murder of her 17-month-old daughter in Dudley. Faiza Hassan is accused of killing the child on April 9, 2023, with West Midlands Police called to an address on Castle Hill by paramedics at approximately 5.20pm. The child was pronounced dead later that day, and a post-mortem examination found she had died from multiple injuries.
Charges against the mother
Following an investigation, Faiza Hassan faces eight counts of wounding with intent between November 1, 2022, and April 9, 2023. She is also charged with cruelty to the girl and to another child during the same period. The charges relate to a timeframe spanning more than five months before the child's death.
Grandmother also accused
Her mother, Sahra Hassan, 61, of Walsall, is accused of allowing the child's death and cruelty to the girl. Both women appeared at Wolverhampton Crown Court on September 10, where the proceedings took place.
