A 28-year-old man has been charged with murder following the death of Atiqullah Niazai, who was found with stab injuries at a property in Sparkbrook, Birmingham.
Niazai, 26, was discovered at an address in Long Street on Friday, August 28, and was pronounced dead at the scene. West Midlands Police have named Me'Schach Crichton, from Birmingham, as the man charged with his murder.
Court appearance and ongoing support
Crichton was due to appear at Birmingham Magistrates' Court today, Tuesday, September 8, after being remanded in custody. The force confirmed that specialist officers are continuing to support Niazai's family during this time.
In a statement, West Midlands Police said: "We've charged a man with the murder of Atiqullah Niazai who was found dead at a property in Sparkbrook. Atiqullah, aged 26, was discovered with stab injuries at an address in Long Street on August 28. He was sadly confirmed dead at the scene."

The statement continued: "Following enquiries we detained a 28-year-old man in connection with his death. Me'Schach Crichton, from Birmingham, has now been charged with Atiqullah's murder. He was remanded to appear before Birmingham Magistrates' Court today. Specialist officers are continuing to support Atiqullah's family at this devastating time."
