Police have launched a murder investigation following the death of a popular Manchester musician. Officers responded to a stabbing on Raby Street in Moss Side at around 11pm on Friday, May 8. The victim, identified as Dre Brown, also known as Adrian, was a musician who performed under the name StanaMan. He was in his 30s and is believed to have had three children.
Tributes Pour In
Social media has been flooded with tributes from friends and family. One friend said: "RIP, Dre. You will be sadly missed. Gone far too soon. You were such a kind soul and amazing father." Another described him as a 'good kid', while a pal wrote: "Rest in peace, Dre." Natalie Brownlie posted: "RIP Dre." Jamie Whitehead said: "R.I.P Dre you was a good kid had a few laffs with you in the Claremont rest easy mate." Rheannee Blake wrote: "Can't believe it man he always had a smile on his face r.i.p stana man." Marrisa Leigh commented: "Waking up to this news this morning honestly am speechless. You never really know how much life we have left. From God we came, and to Him we shall return. Rest easy. Dre Brown." David Waite said: "Rest in peace Dre. Another life taken too soon." Sean Daly added: "Awww RIP Kidda, gonna miss that smile."
Arrest and Investigation
Greater Manchester Police confirmed that an 18-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder shortly after the incident. He remains in custody for questioning. A police cordon and forensic tent remain on Raby Street, near Westwood Street, as investigators comb the scene. Evidence markers have been placed along the street.
A GMP spokesperson said: "Officers responded to an incident in Raby Street, Moss Side following reports of an assault at around 11pm last night. One man aged in his 30s had injuries consistent with a stabbing and was taken to hospital, where he sadly died shortly after. Our thoughts remain with the victim's family, who are being supported by specialist officers. One man, aged 18, has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in custody for questioning. Enquiries are ongoing."
Police are appealing for any witnesses or anyone with information to come forward.
