Netflix star Nana injured fighting armed home intruder

Netflix actress and K-pop sensation Nana has been hospitalised alongside her mother after bravely confronting an armed intruder who broke into their Seoul residence.

The Terrifying Home Invasion

Nana, whose real name is Im Jin-ah, was at home with her mother when a man armed with a weapon forced his way into their property in the early hours of the morning. The intruder, described as a man in his 30s, immediately began demanding money and valuables from the terrified women.

According to local police reports, a violent altercation ensued during which the K-pop star's mother was knocked unconscious. Both women sustained what authorities have described as 'serious injuries' during the terrifying ordeal.

Brave Struggle and Arrest

Despite their injuries, Nana and her mother displayed remarkable courage by managing to restrain the armed burglar until police officers arrived at the scene. The quick-thinking actions of both women led to the man's immediate arrest.

South Korea's Yonhap news agency provided an update on their condition, stating: "Nana also sustained physical injuries while trying to escape the dangerous situation." The agency added that while the mother has regained consciousness, both women require medical treatment and complete rest to recover from their traumatic experience.

The suspect now faces charges of aggravated robbery, according to a local detective who spoke with the AFP news agency.

From K-pop Star to Netflix Actress

Nana first rose to prominence in 2009 as a member of the popular K-pop girl group After School. The success of the main group led to the creation of sub-units Orange Caramel and After School Red, further cementing her status in the Korean entertainment industry.

While After School is no longer active, Nana has successfully transitioned into acting, starring in several television crime dramas including Kill It and Justice, both released in 2019. Her career reached new international heights when she landed a role in the 2021 Netflix series Glitch, a South Korean sci-fi production about a woman searching for her mysteriously vanished boyfriend.

The multi-talented entertainer continues to balance both acting and music careers, having released her debut solo album Seventh Heaven 16 in September. In a touching tribute to her mother, Nana recently revealed a new tattoo of the year 1968 - her mother's birth year.

Looking ahead, Nana is rumoured to appear in the upcoming drama Climax and Netflix series Scandals (working title), where she will portray Hui-yeon, a widow who pledges to remain chaste after losing her husband. The drama, based on the 2003 Korean film Untold Scandal, is scheduled for release next year.
