Nottingham Police Uncover Child Exploitation Room

Police in Nottingham have made a disturbing discovery at a house of multiple occupancy (HMO), uncovering a room that was reportedly used for the sexual exploitation of children. The investigation was launched following reports that a rented room at an address on Woodborough Road was being utilised for illicit sexual purposes.

Multiple Child Victims Identified

Nottinghamshire Police have confirmed that a number of children have been identified as potential victims in this harrowing case. A thorough and extensive investigation is now actively underway to determine the full scale and scope of the criminal activity that took place within the property.

The police force released an official statement detailing the situation: "An investigation has been launched after reports a room within the address was being used for sexual purposes. So far, a number of victims have been identified as children and a thorough investigation is now underway to determine the full scale of the activity there."

Two Men Arrested on Suspicion of Serious Offences

As part of the ongoing probe, officers have arrested two individuals in connection with the alleged crimes. A 52-year-old man and a 33-year-old man have been taken into custody on suspicion of a number of serious offences. These charges notably include facilitating the sexual exploitation of a child aged between 13 and 17 years old.

Inspector Vincent Clark, who is leading the investigation, provided further context: "While we are still in the early stages of this investigation, we have already arrested two men on suspicion of a number of offences involving the exploitation of children. As you would expect, we are taking these reports extremely seriously as we start to unravel what has been happening within this room."

Police Stress HMO Residents Not Under Investigation

Inspector Clark was keen to provide reassurance to the local community and clarify the situation regarding the multi-occupancy property. He emphasised that while the sexual activity is reported to have occurred within a rented space in the building, the police are not currently investigating any of the people who legally reside at the address.

"It is important to stress that while this property is multi-occupancy, we are not currently investigating any of the people who live at the property. The two people we have arrested do not reside at the address," Inspector Clark stated.

Victim Support and Community Reassurance

The police have confirmed that safeguarding measures are a top priority. Any victims who have come forward are being supported by a dedicated team of specially trained officers. The force acknowledges the alarm such news is likely to cause within the local community and has pledged to have officers visible in the area to offer reassurance and address any concerns residents may have.

Inspector Clark added: "We know that this is likely to cause alarm within our local community and officers will be out and about to offer reassurance or address any concerns you may have. We would also like to hear from anyone with information that could help our investigation in particular anyone who may have visited this address. Any information will be dealt with in the strictest of confidence."
