Pair Deny Dumping Wooden Boards and Altering Van Plate

Two people have denied dumping wooden boards in a Birmingham street and altering the number plates on a vehicle. Elrashid Elaagib, aged 59, and 41-year-old Samar Abdelsalam, both of Beechmount Drive, Birmingham, appeared before Birmingham Magistrates on Thursday (May 7) facing the same three charges each.

Details of the Charges

The first charge relates to depositing wooden boards from a Mercedes Sprinter van in Crick Lane, Handsworth, on July 9 2024 without having a permit. The second charge involves failing to comply with a notice served by Birmingham City Council requesting information to confirm who was driving the vehicle on the date of the incident. The third charge concerns fraudulently altering a trade plate to allow a falsified registration plate to have been used.

Court Proceedings

Neither Elaagib nor Abdelsalam had legal representation when they appeared before magistrates. When asked about why he had pleaded not guilty to all three charges, Elaagib said he had “sold the vehicle” at the time of the offences. Abdelsalam also pleaded not guilty to all three charges and when asked about her plea, she said: “I don’t have any idea about any of these issues”.
