A 78-year-old woman has tragically died after being struck by a van in a supermarket car park just days before Christmas.

Details of the fatal collision

The incident occurred at the Asda store on Greenfield Lane in Shaw at approximately 6.50pm on Thursday, December 18, 2025. According to Greater Manchester Police, the driver of a Peugeot Expert van was moving towards the car park exit when the vehicle collided with the pensioner.

The woman, who was reportedly returning to her own car at the time, sustained severe injuries from the impact. Despite the emergency response, she was pronounced dead at the scene.
