Police appeal after man found injured on Christmas Day

Police have launched an urgent investigation after a man was discovered with serious injuries lying in a Stoke-on-Trent road in the early hours of Christmas Day.

The man, aged in his 60s, was found unresponsive on Crestbrook Road in the Abbey Hulton area at approximately 3.45am on Thursday, December 25. A member of the public made the distressing discovery and the injured man was subsequently rushed to hospital, where he remains with serious injuries.

Timeline of Events Under Scrutiny

Investigators are piecing together the man's movements prior to the incident. It is understood he had left the Abbey Hulton Sports and Social Club on Abbots Road at around 10.30pm on Christmas Eve, Wednesday, December 24. The circumstances that led to him being found injured on the road roughly five hours later are currently unknown.

Staffordshire Police were initially alerted to the incident on Saturday, December 27, when a man flagged down officers to report it. The force has now formally launched an investigation, designated as incident 308 of 27 December.

Appeal for Information and Footage

Detectives are conducting CCTV enquiries in the local area and speaking to potential witnesses as part of their initial probe. Officers are particularly keen to hear from anyone who was in the vicinity of Crestbrook Road or Abbots Road between 10.30pm on Christmas Eve and 4.00am on Christmas Day.

A police spokesperson stated: "We’re keen to speak to anyone with any information that can help us find out the circumstances surrounding the man’s injuries, especially those with CCTV, dashcam or doorbell footage of the area at the time."
