West Midlands Police have confirmed they are no longer treating the death of a man at a House in Multiple Occupation (HMO) in Birmingham as suspicious.
Emergency Response to Perry Barr Property
The investigation was launched after police and paramedics were called to an address off Walsall Road in Perry Barr just after 6:30 am on December 3. They discovered a man, believed to be in his 40s, in cardiac arrest. Despite the efforts of emergency services, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
From Unexplained Death to No Suspicious Circumstances
Initially, the death was treated as unexplained, leading officers to arrest three people on suspicion of murder as part of their early enquiries. However, following a thorough investigation, detectives have concluded there is no evidence of foul play.
West Midlands Police have stated they are now satisfied there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the tragic incident. The focus of the investigation has conclusively shifted away from any potential criminal act.
Coroner to Determine Cause of Death
With the criminal investigation closed, the police have prepared a file for HM Coroner. It will now be for the coroner's court to formally establish the cause and full circumstances of the man's death.
The case highlights the procedures followed by authorities when a sudden death occurs, particularly at a House in Multiple Occupation (HMO), where multiple unrelated individuals reside. The location of the incident remains a privately rented HMO property in the Perry Barr area of Birmingham.
