Police Appeal for Information on Illegal Bikers After Sutton Coldfield Shooting
West Midlands Police have launched a public appeal to trace illegal bikers believed to be connected to a shooting in Sutton Coldfield that left a man in his 20s in a critical condition and a woman with minor injuries. The incident occurred in Mount View shortly before 11:30 PM on January 31, 2026, and has prompted an intensive investigation.
Details of the Shooting and Injuries
During the attack, shots were fired, resulting in severe harm to a young man who remains critically ill in hospital. A woman also sustained minor injuries in the same event. In response to the violence, two men from Birmingham have been charged with attempted murder and are currently remanded in custody as legal proceedings continue.
Police Investigation and CCTV Evidence
As part of their ongoing inquiries, detectives have released CCTV footage showing individuals on bikes in Sutton Coldfield town centre just prior to the shooting. The police strongly believe these bikes and their riders are directly linked to the crime. Detective Inspector Francis Nock, who is leading the investigation, stated: “We believe the bikes were ridden to Sutton Coldfield from the Castle Vale area that night. We want to hear from anyone who recognises either bike, has any information about them and who may have access to them, as well as what has happened to them since the shooting and where they might be now.”
Public Appeal for Assistance
Authorities are urging the community to come forward with any details that could aid the investigation. This includes information about the bikes' identities, their whereabouts after the incident, or any knowledge of the riders involved. Members of the public can contact West Midlands Police by calling 101 and quoting reference number 20/132275/26 to provide tips or leads.
The police emphasize the importance of community cooperation in solving this case and ensuring public safety. This appeal highlights ongoing efforts to combat violent crime and illegal activities in the region, with law enforcement dedicated to bringing those responsible to justice.
