West Midlands Police are appealing for information after a man allegedly used counterfeit banknotes to buy a games console in Birmingham. The incident occurred on [date] at a shop in the city centre, where the suspect handed over fake £20 notes to pay for the console worth approximately £300.
Details of the Incident
According to police, the suspect entered the store and selected a high-end games console. He then produced several £20 notes to complete the purchase. Staff became suspicious after the transaction and later discovered the notes were counterfeit. The suspect had already left the premises with the console.
Suspect Description
Police have released CCTV images of the man they wish to speak to. He is described as white, in his late 20s or early 30s, of medium build, with short dark hair. At the time of the incident, he was wearing a black hooded jacket, dark trousers, and white trainers.
Detective Constable Sarah Johnson said: “We are keen to trace this individual as part of our investigation into the use of counterfeit currency. Using fake money can have a serious impact on businesses and the wider community. We urge anyone who recognises the man or has information about the incident to contact us.”
