Appeal Launched After Violent Attack at Community Event

Detectives have launched a public appeal to trace a 21-year-old man following a stabbing at a firework display in Telford. The incident, which is being treated as attempted murder, occurred on a playing field on Wellington Road in Donnington.

Details of the Attack and Police Investigation

The victim, a 20-year-old man, was attacked at around 8.30pm on Saturday, November 8. Emergency services rushed him to Royal Stoke University Hospital for treatment. Fortunately, he has since been discharged from hospital.

In connection with this serious assault, police have already made three arrests. A 19-year-old man was arrested today on suspicion of attempted murder and remains in police custody. An 18-year-old man and a 17-year-old boy were also arrested on the same suspicion but have been released on bail while the investigation continues.

Who Police Want to Find

Officers are now keen to speak to 21-year-old Abubakar Saleem. They believe he was in the area at the time of the incident and may possess information crucial to their ongoing enquiries.

Detective Inspector Paul Drury of West Mercia Police stated: "We would like to speak to 21-year-old Abubakar Saleem as we believe he can help with our investigation into the stabbing on Saturday night. I’m appealing to Abubakar himself to come forward and to anyone who may have information that would help find him."

He added a note of reassurance for the local community, emphasising that this is believed to have been an isolated incident which posed no wider risk to the public.
