Chelmsley Wood Robberies: Police Warn of Lone Walker Attacks
Police warn after three robberies in Chelmsley Wood

Police have issued an urgent public warning following a series of violent street robberies targeting people walking home alone after dark.

Three Attacks Linked to Single Suspect

West Midlands Police are investigating three separate assaults and robberies they believe were carried out by the same man. The incidents all occurred within the past week in the Chelmsley Wood area of Solihull.

In each case, the victims were vulnerable individuals walking by themselves in the dark. The attacker assaulted them before stealing their personal belongings. Officers are currently reviewing CCTV footage from the area in an effort to identify the suspect.

Increased Patrols and Public Advice

In response to the crimes, police have stepped up patrols across Chelmsley Wood. Inspector Mark Heard, from Solihull Police, stated that the force is working hard to find the person responsible.

"It is believed to be one man that has committed multiple robberies after targeting vulnerable people walking alone in the dark," Inspector Heard confirmed.

The police have issued clear safety advice for the public:

  • Plan your route in advance and stick to busy, well-lit streets.
  • Be aware of your surroundings at all times.
  • Keep mobile phones and other valuables out of sight.
  • Choose paths and walkways that are likely to be covered by CCTV.
