A quadbike rider has sustained severe, life-changing injuries following a collision with a BMW in Smethwick, West Midlands.

Incident Details

Emergency services were dispatched to Hagley Road West in the Smethwick area of West Bromwich on Friday, June 12, shortly after 7pm. The crash involved a quadbike and a black BMW M4, occurring near the Miller & Carter restaurant.

A man in his 40s was badly hurt in the crash. Police believe he has suffered life-changing injuries. The BMW driver stopped at the scene and is cooperating with authorities.

The quadbike was left crumpled as a result of the collision.

Road Closure

Hagley Road West was closed for some time after the incident but fully reopened by Saturday morning.

A spokeswoman for West Midlands Police said: “We responded to a collision between a car and a quadbike on Hagley Road, Smethwick, last night (12 June) shortly before 7.10pm.

“One man in his 40s was seriously injured and was taken to hospital with injuries thought to be life-changing.

“The driver of the car is helping officers with their enquiries.

“We would ask anyone who was in the area at the time and witnessed the incident to get in touch by calling 101 quoting incident number 4955 of 12 June.”

Restaurant Statement

Miller & Carter has confirmed that the road was cleared and reopened on Friday, and the restaurant is fully open today.
