Shaun Daniels, 38, of no fixed address, has been sentenced to ten years and six months in prison after being found guilty of two counts of rape, assault by beating, and assault occasioning actual bodily harm. The offences took place in Stoke-on-Trent in January this year, both at a residential address and at Fenton Park.
Details of the offences
Staffordshire Police reported that Daniels raped and assaulted the victim inside an address in Stoke-on-Trent. Two days later, he assaulted the same victim again at Fenton Park. Members of the public who witnessed the incident contacted the police, leading to an immediate investigation.
Daniels had previously pleaded guilty to criminal damage to property valued under £5,000. The sentencing hearing took place at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court on Tuesday, September 29.

As part of his sentence, Daniels was placed on the Sex Offenders Register and made subject to an indefinite restraining order to protect the victim. The court heard that Daniels initially denied the offences when arrested, but a thorough investigation gathered what police described as compelling evidence, resulting in a jury finding him guilty.

Detective Constable Jessica Hill, of the public protection unit, who led the investigation, said: "Daniels denied these offences when he was arrested, but through a thorough investigation we were able to gather compelling evidence that ultimately led to a jury finding him guilty."
