West Midlands Police have confirmed they are preparing for two planned demonstrations in Dudley town centre tomorrow (September 26). The protests are scheduled to take place at the Fountain in Dudley Market Place on Saturday, September 26.
Police confirm policing plan for Dudley protests
A spokesman for West Midlands Police said: "We're aware of a planned event in Dudley town centre tomorrow."
"We are experienced at policing gatherings and have a policing plan in place to ensure everyone attending are able to lawfully express their views, while ensuring the safety of everyone involved."
The spokesman added: "We would ask anyone with any concerns to speak to our officers patrolling."
UKIP leader to address demonstration
The leader of the UK Independence Party (UKIP) is expected to speak at the demonstration at 1pm. The UKIP leader wrote on social media: "I am looking forward to leading Dudley's protest march on Saturday 26th of September to take a stand against illegal migration."
"If you live within 50 miles of Dudley come along, support them and bring a friend!"
Counter-protest organised by Black Country Stand Up To Racism
In response, a counter-protest organised by Black Country Stand Up To Racism will take place at the same location at 11.30am. The group said: "The far right are coming to Dudley and they've invited Nick Tenconi to speak."
"We're coming together to say NO to racism, NO to division and YES to unity!"
Both demonstrations are set to take place in the town centre, with police urging anyone with concerns to approach officers on patrol.
