A West Midlands man has been jailed for 27 years for a series of child sexual offences, including rape.

Luke Simon, 42, of Redditch, was sentenced at Worcester Crown Court yesterday (August 13) after being found guilty of 22 offences committed over the past decade.

The convictions include two counts of rape of a child under 13 and 20 counts of sexual assault on children under 13.

Investigation and sentencing

Simon's crimes, which involved more than one child, came to light in 2023 and prompted an investigation by West Mercia Police's Protecting People Unit (PPU).

In addition to the prison term, the court imposed a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) and a restraining order against Simon.

Detective Sergeant Izabela Majchrzyk from the PPU praised the victims for their bravery.

Police statement and appeal

DS Majchrzyk said: "We would like to pay tribute to the survivors of Simon’s vile predatory actions for their courage in coming forward and giving us the evidence that has led to this successful conviction.

"We hope today’s sentencing will help them to move on with their lives and that it encourages other survivors of sexual abuse to come forward.

"Our message to anyone who has suffered similar abuses is we will always listen to you and act where appropriate no matter how long ago the offences took place."

The PPU investigation is part of ongoing efforts to tackle child sexual abuse in the region.
