Redditch E-Scooter Stabbing Victim Named as Family Pays Heartfelt Tribute
Redditch E-Scooter Stabbing Victim Named in Tribute

The family of a 41-year-old man who died after being stabbed in Redditch have paid a moving tribute to him. Sebastian Daelman suffered fatal injuries during an incident on Martley Close on Tuesday, April 28. A 17-year-old boy has since been charged with murder and is due to appear in court on Tuesday, June 2.

Sebastian leaves behind his mother Dawn, father Clive, brother Christian, and sister Nadine. In a statement released today, his heartbroken family described him as a kind-hearted man with a bright smile who was a protector by nature. They said: "Sebastian was a kind-hearted man with the brightest smile, the sort of smile that lit up a room and made everyone around him feel seen and cared for."

His proudest role was being an uncle to his niece, Ivy. He adored her and would often brag about her cleverness. His family added: "Wanting to be better for Ivy was one of his biggest motivations in life. Every morning he would go to mom's house to 'make the old girl a cuppa.' We still expect the door to open and see his enormous smile."

Sebastian was well known in Redditch and would talk to everyone as he went about his day, often accompanied by his cat, Dotty. He enjoyed cooking, gardening, and was a self-appointed BBQ master. He also loved music by Bob Marley, UB40, Oasis, and The Beatles.

His family continued: "He was a true gentleman; he never let anyone else carry the shopping bags. He would try anything once, from abseiling down the town hall to becoming a bird-of-prey enthusiast. These interests brought him peace on days when he battled with his own mind."

Detective Chief Inspector Gareth Lougher from West Mercia Police said officers were quickly deployed to the scene. The victim was wearing dark clothing and may have been riding an e-scooter prior to the incident. A GoFundMe page has been set up to help with funeral costs, and Sebastian's funeral will take place on June 26 at Redditch Crematorium.
