Redditch Man Appears in Court Over Oldbury Murder Charge

Benjamin Day, a 20-year-old man from Redditch, has appeared in court accused of murdering a woman in Oldbury. Day is alleged to have killed Maria Saceanu, aged 24, between December 19 and December 22, 2025.

Court Appearance and Plea

Day appeared via video link from HMP Manchester at Wolverhampton Crown Court on Wednesday, February 18. He spoke only to confirm his name and enter a not guilty plea to a single count of murder.

Judge Michael Chambers KC told Day that his case is being adjourned for trial, with a date to be fixed as soon as possible. The trial is expected to last between seven and eight days. Day, of Yeadon Close, Redditch, Worcestershire, was remanded in custody.

Background of the Case

West Midlands Police previously reported that a woman was found unresponsive at a property in Barncroft Road, Tividale, near Oldbury, in the early hours of Sunday, December 21. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The victim has been identified as Maria Saceanu. The investigation into her death led to the arrest and charge of Benjamin Day.

Authorities are continuing their inquiries as the case moves toward trial. The court proceedings will determine the outcome of the charges against Day.
