Six people have been arrested on suspicion of abduction after two missing girls were discovered safe in Cornwall. The girls, aged 11 and 12, went missing on Sunday, August 9, prompting an investigation by Warwickshire Police.
Arrests made across Cornwall and Rugby
In the early hours of Wednesday, August 12, officers arrested two men, aged 62 and 25, and a woman, aged 56, from Tintagel, Cornwall. A 42-year-old man from Falmouth was also arrested on suspicion of abduction. Additionally, two women, aged 75 and 47, from Rugby were taken into custody. All six individuals remain in police custody.
Chief Superintendent Jon Belcher of Warwickshire Police stated: “After extensive investigations, our colleagues at Devon and Cornwall Police who were acting on our behalf found the girls safe and well yesterday.”
Police confirm no wider threat to community
Belcher added: “We have been investigating how these girls came to be in Cornwall, and we have progressed our enquiries today with these six arrests. The people who are currently in custody are all known to the girls so there was and is no wider threat to the community.”
Over the coming days, officers will be present in the community and areas of interest, conducting house-to-house enquiries and speaking with residents. Belcher encouraged anyone with concerns to speak with officers.

The investigation remains active as police work to establish the circumstances surrounding the girls' disappearance. The arrests mark a significant development in the case, with all suspects known to the victims.
