A Solihull man has been told he had the 'most expensive night out' of his life after being fined £452 for assaulting a police officer. Aaron Gerroni, 21, of Usk Way, Smiths Wood, pleaded guilty to the offence at Birmingham Magistrates' Court.
Incident details
The assault took place in the early hours of July 1, after police responded to a domestic disturbance that had already finished when they arrived. Gerroni became agitated when officers spoke to him as he was walking away from the scene. He resisted arrest and pushed, punched and kicked the constable, causing bruising to the officer's elbow.
Court hearing and sentence
The Magistrates' Chair told Gerroni: "This will be the most expensive night out you will have. Not only because you now have a criminal record, but those punches and kicks have now cost you £452."
Defending, Mr Haycock said the assault was completely out of character for Gerroni, who had no previous convictions. The court heard heavy drinking had led to the incident, with Gerroni expressing shame for his behaviour.

The magistrate said Gerroni's case would be cited as a 'prime example' of assaults on officers in a talk to 30 police officers later that day. The fine of £452 was imposed, and Gerroni now has a criminal record as a result of his actions.
