A gunman remains at large more than 24 hours after a 19-year-old and a 16-year-old boy were shot in Solihull. The pair were found with gunshot wounds on Vauxhall Crescent in Smith's Wood at around 2.30am on Monday, June 15. They were rushed to hospital with injuries initially believed to be life-threatening.
Victims in Serious Condition
In an update on Tuesday, June 16, West Midlands Police confirmed the victims remain in hospital in a serious condition. No arrests have been made so far. A police spokesperson said: "We're continuing to investigate after shots were fired in Vauxhall Crescent, Smith's Wood, yesterday morning. A man and a teenage boy were discovered with injuries at just before 2.40am. They remain in hospital in a serious condition."
Police Appeal for Information
Enquiries, including a review of CCTV footage, are ongoing. Police have set up a Major Incident Public Portal (MIPP) for the public to submit still or moving images. The spokesperson added: "We know the alarm that such incidents cause and our officers have been carrying out reassurance patrols in the area."
Ambulance Service Response
A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesperson said: "We were called to Vauxhall Crescent, Castle Bromwich, at 2.35am. Two people received trauma care for serious injuries. They were conveyed on blue lights and sirens to hospital for further specialist care."
